IronPlanet reports record 2009

IronPlanet, the online used equipment auctioneer, has reported gross equipment sales of US$ 458 million in 2009, an increase of +34% over 2008.
Fourth-quarter gross equipment sales totalled US$ 124 million, up +29% over the same period last year.
Commenting on the results Gregory J. Owens, chairman and CEO, said, "I am very pleased with our performance in 2009. We continue to focus and respond to what is most important to our sellers and buyers.
"We increased the frequency of our auctions to a weekly level in North America, launched our marketplace in Europe and expanded in Australia/Southeast Asia."
IronPlanet held 79 auctions across North America, Europe and Australia in 2009; an increase of approximately +40% over 2008. About 30000 items were sold, up almost +65% over 2008.
The company also hit a number of other milestones in 2009, including expanding its sales force to 111, up +37% over 2008, passing half a million registered users to its online marketplace, and averaging about 9000 new user registrations a month.
