In China a range topping 1,000 tonne class telescopic boom wheeled mobile crane from Sany was used to install a 2 MW wind turbine tower and nacelle.

The 96 tonne nacelle with spreader beam and other rigging was lifted 80 metres on main boom only, for the first time on such a crane, Sany said.

The new SAC12000 crane was driven more than 1,700 km from the Sany factory to the mountainous China Huadian Corporation wind turbine site in Wei County, Zhang Jiakou, in Hebei Province. Those present at the site to witness the lift included Liu Munan, chief designer of the SAC12000 and Gu Yunfeng, chairman of Yunfeng Hoisting, the company that owned the crane.
