The UK’s largest construction firm, Balfour Beatty, has announced it will keep its sites open, where possible, during the coronavirus lockdown.

In a statement, the company said work would continue on sites where it was able to maintain safe standards of working, as set out in the Construction Leadership Council’s Safe Operating Procedure (SOP).

Balfour Beatty stressed that the health and wellbeing of its staff were always its priority, saying the “continuously evolving” situation “will continue to shape our approach”.

The statement continued, “Our Crisis Management Team meets daily to understand the evolving situation and to enable Balfour Beatty to respond swiftly to any changes.”
