New dates will be announced for Association events in the first quarter of 2021

Rising numbers of Covid-19 cases have precipitated a decision from the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association (SC&RA) Board to move some of its crane and rigging events in the USA to later in 2021.

Some US states have already imposed restrictions on travel and gatherings so the SC&RA Board has approved an alternative plan for in-person meetings in 2021.

Joel Dandrea, SC&RA chief executive officer, explained, “Being responsive to members’ input on the desire and need to return to live events and not lose sight of the very real practical health considerations, the SC&RA Board of Directors has approved the formulation of a back-up plan that involves rescheduling our live meetings to later in 2021.”

Dandrea said the events affected will be the January Board & Committee Meeting, the Specialized Transportation Symposium, and the Annual Conference. “The Crane & Rigging Workshop, however, would be held as scheduled in September,” added Dandrea.

SC&RA is working with the event venues on new dates for later in the year. “We fully recognise and appreciate that moving dates may not be ideal or viable for all participating members but, the fact is, no matter what we do under these unusual and extraordinary times, we’re not going to satisfy 100 % of the members 100 % of the time,” Dandrea said.

Until new dates are announced, SC&RA said it will keep registration open for the January Board & Committee Meetings and February’s Specialized Transportation Symposium. When new dates are confirmed, those who have registered will be notified, SC&RA said. Registrants will have their registrations retained and transferred or be otherwise accommodated.
