Mecaplus appoints AST as distributor

Spanish manufacturer of aerial work platforms, Mecaplús SL has signed AST GmbH as its exclusive distributor for Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Mecaplús is an offshoot of a specialist tree pruning contractor: the company started out in the year 2000 as a tree pruning specialist and devised the booms to improve the efficiency and the safety of their staff. The company has subsequently added new models with larger two man platforms for more general applications such as cleaning, painting, system installation and maintenance.

The product range now includes regular and self leveling articulated booms, with four-by-two wheel drive, four-by-four-wheel drive, full crawler or half tracks.

AST GmbH has its headquarters in Blaustein in Southern Germany, and is divided into two business areas: AST Technology and AST WorkSafety.

The AST Technology area specialises in the sale of special aerial platform technology, which includes mast climbing work platforms from the Canadian manufacturer Fraco and pillar cranes from the Italian company Gelco. Activities include the sale and lease of products, project planning, installation and customer service.

The AST Work Safety area concentrates on engineering and services: customers commission AST to monitor construction sites, offer support in production processes and carry out further training courses for employees and management staff. AST GmbH is an IPAF training centre, and trains operators, demonstrators and instructors on aerial work platforms.

By including the Mecaplús self-levelling articulated work platform in its offering, AST GmbH believes it has a unique chance to link cost-effectiveness with complete safety for special activities, such as tree felling, cleaning tasks and installation work. Alongside a special Mecaplús demonstration team with Mecaplús demonstration machines, AST GmbH will also offer training on Mecaplús work platforms in accordance with the IPAF standard.
