A new booklet published by Penny Hydraulics in the UK is a free guide to current manual handling regulations and includes practical advice on how to reduce the need to handle loads by hand. Sections highlight the principal regulations and industry codes of practice covering manual handling and the use of lorry loaders, platform lifts and workshop and stores lifts. Included are case studies explaining how to reduce manual handling and implement best practice through its comprehensive design, manufacturing, installation and training service.

“Safe manual handling isn't just good ethics, it's good business but it's surprising how many people are unaware of the full implications of the regulations,” said John Penny, managing director of Penny Hydraulics. “This booklet is designed for anyone with a duty of care to employees and contains examples of how companies can turn real-life manual handling problems into success stories.”

The booklet covers manual handling and health and safety regulations and duty of care obligations. It includes information about manual handling requirements in The Health & Safety At Work Act, PUWER (Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations), LOLER (Lifting Operation & Lifting Equipment Regulations) and the ALLMI (Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers) code of practice.

Free copies of the booklet can be obtained by visiting the Penny Hydraulics website at www.loadsbetter.co.uk and clicking on the dedicated link.
