Brazilian rental firms take LTR 1100s

Two crane rental companies in Brazil, Real Guindastes in Belo Horizonte and Guindastes Tatuape in Sao Paulo, have purchased the Liebherr 100 tonne capacity LTR 1100 telescopic crawler.
Daniel Ferraz, owner of Real Guindastes said the crawler chassis provides excellent off road capability and manoeuvrability, while the telescopic boom is exact and sensitive in its operation. "The advantages of the telescopic crane are the short set-up times, easier transport, and the variability of the boom system," said Ferraz.
Ferraz sees long-term construction sites a niche opportunity for the LTR 1100, where the requirement tends to be for smaller to medium loads to be lifted and moved. Other possible applications include operation in mines, where the terrain is often rough.
The LTR 1100 also comes into its own in the erecting of factory production halls. One main area of use is the assembly of prefabricated elements.
With a 2.9 assembly jib and the second hoist gear unit, assembly work can be done in two-hook operation. Loads can be lifted off the low loader, rotated into the correct position, and then moved to the assembly location using the crawler chassis, said Liebherr.
The 52 m boom can be lengthened with a 10.8 to 19 m swing away jib. In addition, two lattice elements, each 7 m long, are also available, which can be installed between the telescopic boom and the swing away to raise the pivot point of the jib. It can be offset up to 40 degrees. As an option the swing away can also be made hydraulically adjustable where, under full load, it can be moved between 0 and 40 degrees.
The LTR 1100 also has the advantage that heavy loads can be telescoped with the boom, which, in principle, is impossible with lattice mast cranes. It is powered by a Liebherr four cylinder diesel, providing a capacity of 145 kW and a maximum torque of 920 Nm. Line pull is 88 kN for fast operating sequences.
For crane work, the crawler tracks are telescoped out hydraulically to a width of 5.05 m. The 900 mm wide crawlers are fitted as standard with three-web track pads. Flat pads are also available.
