UK rental firm Fork Rent has purchased ten Volvo DD25w tandem rollers following a successful trial and evaluation of Volvo’s latest 2.5 t machine.

“The initial trials we undertook with the DD25w proved very successful. We also liked the build quality, modern design and not least the safety features that are built in as standard which were an important selling point,” said Guy Nicholls, chairman, Fork Rent.

The Volvo DD25w double drum compactor features a 1.2 m drum, which operates at either 55Hz or 67 Hz. A 260 litre pressurised water feed system is directed via four nozzles per drum working in conjunction with spring loaded, self adjusting urethane wipers. The drum roller operates at a maximum speed of up to 10 kph.

Established in 1965, Fork Rent is the UK’s largest independent self-drive plant hire company. The firm hires out dumpers, excavators, utility vehicles, access equipment and commercial vehicles, with a fleet size of 2000 units.

The company offers national coverage via its depots in Ipswich and Hullavington, with plans to open a northern depot this year.
