Turkish steel producer chooses Sennebogen
09 September 2012
Turkish steel producer Colakoglu Metalurji has been putting its new Sennebogen 6200 HCC Electro to good use since taking delivery in December 2011.
The harbour mobile crane is being used to handle scrap and finished steel products at the Çolakoğlu port.
Colakoglu Metalurji produces around 3 million tonnes of steel for the global market each year. Scrap as a raw material is delivered to the steel plant by water and in trucks. A large proportion of the finished steel is then transported on by ship. The Sennebogen 6200 is used to load and unload 4,000 tonnes of scrap and 10,000 tonnes of steel rolls from the waiting ships. Construction steel and slabs are lifted and positioned on the ships in bundles of up to 30 tons.
Its 2 x 200 kN heavy-load winch and rigid wide gauge undercarriagehelp it cope with the challenging tasks at the port. Its electric motor is not only environmentally friendly and economical to run, but is also highly efficient, offers longer maintenance intervals and its quieter, Sennebogen said. Electricity supply boxes for the machines are every 50 to 80 metres along the Colakoglu Metalurji port.
The machine unloads ships up to 60,000 tons with the 60 m boom. Drivers can switch between the orange peel grab for scrap to the load hook, or C-grab, depending on the goods to be handled.
