The Djibouti, Africa-based division of heavy lift and specialised transport specialist Steder Group, Steder Group Djibouti, has announced the successful completion of a transport job that involved moving two ball valves for the Genale Dawe hydro power project from the port of Djibouti, in the Horn of Africa, to the project site in Ethiopia.

The ball valve weighed 130 metric tons and the distance travelled was 1450 km. On arrival at the Genale Dawe hydro power project, Steder Group Djibouti had to transport the load through the dam’s tunnels. It reported that this was challenging but achieved successfully, and on schedule, due to careful planning and plenty of manpower.
