Multiquip is to introduce a ‘new look' lighting tower at Conexpo.

Torsten Erbel, Multiquip's vice president of product management, engineering and customer support, told IRN that the company wanted to create a redesigned lighting tower with "distinctive Multiquip look - we're changing it quite dramatically."

In some respects the tower will be similar to conventional towers, powered by a Kubota 6 or 8 kVA engine and using standard metal halide lamps; "but we are changing the total look and feel. Something that people will say, ‘That's a Multiquip'."

This new tower is separate from the fuel cell powered tower that the company launched at the World of Concrete show earlier this year, and which will also be on show at ConExpo.

Meanwhile, Mr Erbel said Multiquip is close to launching its first fuel cell powered portable generator, a 5 kVA unit. This is being built in particular for use in hazardous areas where spark free power is a major benefit. Mr Erbel said ConExpo comes too soon to launch that machine, with an announcement expected in May or June this year.
