CSCEC wins Brunei Bay bridge contract

17 September 2015

China State Construction & Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) has won the BND 448 million (US$ 330 million) engineering procurement construction (EPC) contract for package CC4 of the Temburong Bridge in Brunei.

The overall scheme is a 30 km road link crossing Brunei Bay to connect the Brunei Muara and Temburong areas. There is currently no land link between the two regions of Brunei, as they are separated by part of Malaysia. As well as the distance involved this round-about route includes four immigration checkpoints.

CSCEC’s package of work includes the main 11.8 km link, comprised of some 11 km of viaducts as well as the main bridge, which will have a central span of 100 m. The structure of the central span will be a continuous pre-stressed concrete beam.

The client for the project is Brunei’s Ministry of Development.
