Hyperloop - The future of travel?

13 August 2019

Ever wondered what the future of travel could look like?

In August 2013, SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk published a white paper report outlining the principles of a Hyperloop system.

Musk’s hyperloop is a high-speed passenger train that would overcome the usual friction by levitating above its track on air-bearings in an enclosed low-pressure tube.

Since the publication of his white paper, other companies such as Virgin Hyperloop One have begun work on their own hyperloop programmes, with slightly different variations including magnetic levitation.

Following the announcement that India’s Maharashtra state government has approved a public infrastructure project for a hyperloop link, this form of travel looks to be, quite literally, taking off.

Above is a video outlining the basics of Virgin’s Hyperloop One system, most likely to be the first ever implemented anywhere in the world as plans for the Mumbai to Pune project in India develop.
