LafargeHolcim buys Metro Mix

06 August 2018

Materials producer LafargeHolcim has bought US-based ready-mix concrete supplier Metro Mix.

With this acquisition, LafargeHolcim said it was further strengthening its position in the US, where it is already present with operations in cement, ready-mix concrete, aggregates and asphalt. For example, the company recently acquired another US-based ready-mix concrete company, Tarrant Concrete, based in Texas.

Jan Jenisch, CEO of LafargeHolcim, said, “This is our fourth acquisition this year in line with our Strategy 2022 – ‘Building for Growth’.

“Metro Mix’s operations are highly complementary to our existing footprint and will allow us to gain a larger share in a growing market with immediate commercial and operational synergies.”

Metro Mix operates two ready-mix concrete plants in Denver, which was said to be one of the fastest growing areas in the US. Population growth in the region is forecast to exceed the national average over the next two years, and demand for building materials is expected to remain strong, driven by large construction projects.
