Spain’s largest rental company, GAM, is working to serve critical industries and customers such as hospitals, pharmaceutical firms, chemical facilities and food companies during the COVID-19 crisis.

The company’s main depots remain operational but with a reduced number of staff working in shifts as part of social distancing measures. Its equipment delivery infrastructure has so far not been severly impacted.

The company told IRN that much of the construction work in the country has been halted by the government due to the virus.

”We have been registering a gradual decrease in the demand of equipment, especially in the last two weeks”, said GAM, ”but we are keeping our maintenance and technical services operating.”

GAM said its increased focus on industrial services over the past three to four years was partially insulating it from the crisis. It said it was nevertheless looking at ways to reduce its operational costs.

”Our priorities at this moment are taking care of our employees and their families, and being by our customers’ side helping them deal with their business and production facilities in these difficult times”, said GAM.
