Tower cranes at work in Oman
16 August 2018
Muscat, Oman-based construction company Al Akkad National Projects (Al Akkad) erected two Raimondi MRT111 flat top tower cranes from its existing fleet at a new high-profile mixed use development in Muscat, Oman, called the Al Khaiat Building project.
The two cranes were purchased in 2014 but to meet this new development’s work height requirements, Al Akkad had to purchase new additional tower sections. Freestanding heights were 41.55 and 47.25 metres, including embedded elements, and both are fitted with 60 m jibs.
According to Raimondi Cranes, the job site was congested, restricting where the cranes could be positioned. This meant that Raimondi and Al Akkad had to strategise the erections as part of the site planning procedures. The cranes were installed over three days and are expected to be in use for an approximate window of 18 to 20 months.
“As part of our ongoing after sales service and care programmes, Raimondi Middle East provided training and product knowledge inductions to our client’s technicians and crane operators for three days,” said Wael Hasan, Middle East commercial manager, Raimondi Cranes. “Raimondi also supplied one electrician and two erectors under the supervision of the Middle East operations manager to the job site.”
Raimondi Middle East said it will address maintenance requirements for the duration of the project to facilitate client timelines and project delivery objectives.
