CATME speaker: the importance of crisis planning

31 July 2018

Cranes and specialized transport can be a high-risk business, so do you have a plan for when things go wrong? That question will be asked by health and safety consultant John Woodward in his presentation at the Cranes & Transport Middle East (CATME) conference in Dubai on 10 October.

Woodward, who has many decades experience in the UK construction and demolition sectors and is director of C&D Demolition Consultants Ltd, told International Cranes and Specialized Transport; “Too many companies go through life without considering what happens if they are involved in a catastrophic event. My presentation will provide food for thought about what to do in the early days after such an event.”

He will argue that businesses can ill-afford to neglect crisis planning; “Business reputations can be ruined in seconds when such an event occurs and the media - both professional and social - start to get involved. The escalation of the issue via social media channels should not be underestimated.”

What does he hope that delegates will get from his presentation? “A realisation that all business are only seconds from disaster”, he said, “and that planning to deal with the fallout from a disaster is a good idea. I would also like them to go away and prepare a strategy to be used in the event of such an event.”

Woodward’s will be just one of a wide selection of presentations covering the use of cranes and specialized transport in the Middle East. For more information on the programme and to book, visit www.khl-catme.com
