An HA16 RTJ articulating boom, from Haulotte Shanghai, is being used in the construction of a section of railway between Yunnan, in the south east of China, and Laos.

The 508km-long line will boast 18 new stations and two reconditioned stations. It passes through 8m- to 11m-high tunnels, which means it is crucial to find a safe and efficient way to work on electric lighting, mechanical ventilation, and fire protection that runs along the ceiling.

The HA16 RTJ features fully proportional and simultaneous movements to reach the work area quickly and with precision, along with an outreach of 8.3m.

Andy Jia, service engineer from Haulotte Shanghai, visited the site to train the operators and promote the safe and effective use of the machine. Mr Wang, project manager, said, “The ultra-fast elevation speed enables us to gain productivity. Our teams felt confident while working at height and worked in complete safety.”
