Aecon announces succession plan
12 March 2014
Canadian contractor Aecon has named its current chief operating officer, Teri McKibbon as its new president & CEO. He will take over from current chairman & CEO, John M. Beck on June 11, at which point Mr Beck will become executive chairman.
Mr McKibbon has held the position of chief operating officer since March 2011, and took on the role of president in June last year. He has been a member of the company’s executive committee since 2006, having joined Aecon in 1996.
Mr Beck said, “I have every confidence that Teri will lead Aecon with distinction and a relentless focus on execution. He has been at the forefront of our paramount objective of improving margins and consistent financial performance, and of Aecon becoming the Canadian-based partner-of-choice for large-scale construction projects."
Mr Beck started in the construction industry in 1963, establishing a small Montreal, Canada-base pre-cast concrete company with his parents. The company grew to become Aecon, although other predecessor companies can trace their history back as far as 1877. Last year Aecon had revenues of CA$ 3.07 billion (US$ 2.76 billion) and ended 2013 with an order book worth CA$ 1.8 billion (US$ 1.6 billion).
