Algeco Scotsman has acquired A1 Container, an accommodation rental company with operations in Austria, Hungary and Slovenia, three new countries for the company.

The acquisition, which will increase Algeco's fleet by more than 3000 units, follows the announcement last week that Algeco was buying Ausco, one of the largest accommodation renters in the country. It has also recently acquired Speedy Hire's accommodation business in the UK.

"This transaction will allow us to supply high quality modular, sanitary and storage units to new customers in Austria, Hungary and Slovenia," said Angèle Brucker, managing director, Algeco Central Europe.

"We welcome A1 customers and look forward to serving the needs of public administration, event, industrial and construction organizations from these new operating locations."

Duncan Gillis, chief executive officer of Algeco Scotsman, "Our entry into these three new country markets, adjacent to our current markets in the region, strengthens our position in Central Europe".

"Following last week's announcement of a planned transaction involving Ausco, a leading business services provider in the Asia Pacific region, the addition of A1 reinforces our continued expansion and, as with Ausco and Portacom in Australia and New Zealand respectively, provides increased geographic balance across our portfolio of operating companies."
