Bauma Africa renamed Bauma ConExpo Africa
13 February 2014
Messe München and Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) have announced a joint venture exhibition in South Africa in 2015, following on from Messe München’s first Bauma Africa, held last year in Johannesburg. The two parties have a co-operation agreement, which has also seen them launch the bC India exhibition, which was held last February in Mumbai for the second time.
The event will run from September 15 - 18, 2015 in Johannesburg at a yet-to-be-announced venue. Messe München is known for the Bauma trade fair in Munich, Germany, by far the largest construction equipment exhibition held anywhere in the world, as well as the largest Asian industry event, Bauma China in Shanghai. As well as being a trade association, the AEM organises exhibitions including next month’s ConExpo-Con/Agg show in Las Vegas, US, the largest trade show for any industry in the Western hemisphere.
Eugen Egetenmeir, managing director of Messe München, said, "Both partners have agreed on the new event name of Bauma ConExpo Africa. This new joint name reflects the close and trusting cooperation between Messe München and AEM."
Dennis Slater, President of AEM, added, "Africa offers tremendous opportunities for North American companies in particular. We are pleased to be supporting our members as they enter or expand in this market."
The first Bauma Africa, held in September last year, featured 754 exhibitors from 38 countries and welcomed 14,700 visitors from more than 100 countries. The new event will retain the current exhibition team, including CEO Elaine Crewe.
