Skanska, in a joint venture with MT Højgaard, has signed a contract with the City of Gothenburg Urban Transport Administration in Sweden to build a bridge over the river Göta älv – the Hisingsbron.

The value of the contract amounts to a total of SEK2.0 billion (€207.86 million), and Skanska’s share is 70%, worth about SEK1.4 billion (€145.68 million). This will be included in order bookings for Skanska Sweden for the third quarter 2016.

The project is a turnkey contract and the bridge is designed as a vertical-lift bridge of steel and concrete. In addition to the bridge, the project includes a facility for tram transportation, new roads and connections, installation, machines and control systems for the bridge, and also demolition of the old bridge.

MT Højgaard is responsible for steel works including mechanics.

The project will employ up to 250 people from Skanska. Construction is scheduled to start in January 2017, and the project is expected to be completed 2022.
