Haulotte's factory in Reims, France has just produced its 50000th machine. The plant, opened in 2000, specialises in the Star vertical mast machines which are available in 6, 8 and 10m working heights and the Compact range of narrow electric scissors in 8, 10, 12 and 14m working heights.

Capable of producing 62 machines a day when running at its peak capacity, the Reims plant, headed up by divisional director, Gerard Doyeux, employs a Kanban manufacturing philosophy of continual improvement to ensure the quality of the machines.

The plant includes a powder coating paint line which can paint machines not only in the traditional Haulotte yellow but in most liveries that customers choose. It takes just 20 minutes to change a colour batch.

Currently the Reims factory is also supplying parts for the Compact 8 (8m working height scissor) to Haulotte's Chinese plant as the new Asian facility ramps up production and these and other parts to the US.
