Hyundai introduces first front shovel excavator

Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe (HHIE) is introducing the new 86,5 tonne R800-7A FS front shovel crawler excavator for the quarrying and mining sector.
Based on the company's R800LC-7A backhoe excavator, the new front shovel version has a 4,5 m³ bucket capacity and a 2,7 m maximum digging depth.
Noise and emission levels have been reduced and the machine's Stage IIIA (Tier 3) Cummins QSX15 engine, delivers 371 kW.
The company said the R800-7A FS features a smooth and sensitive hydraulics system which delivers precision. Performance and comfort levels can be set to meet the operator's requirements in the Hyundai -7A Series cabin which, mounted on a riser, provides the operator with a better view of the working area.
Hyundai added the front shovel excavator is ideal for heavy duty work above track level.
"The particular boom-arm-bucket configuration allows for excavating and loading material into hauling units, which makes them suitable for use in quarries and open mines. Moreover, a front shovel excavator has the capacity to develop a higher break-out force than a conventional backhoe excavator," a spokesman for Hyundai said.
