Next generation loader from Komatsu

01 July 2014

Komatsu has launched the WA270-7 wheeled loader that weighs in at 13.5 tonnes, with power coming from a Komatsu SAA6D107E-2 delivering 112 kW (149 hp). According to the company, the new loader features greater engine power, reduced fuel consumption of up to 10%, improved operator comfort and optimised serviceability over the WA250PZ-6 that it replaces. The machine’s versatile PZ-linkage combines the advantages of the approved Z-bar linkage with the features of parallel lift kinematics. With this design, tilting forces reach an optimal level and parallel movement during fork application is guaranteed.

Komatsu has developed a hydraulically actuated Komatsu Variable Geometry Turbocharger (KVGT) and an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve. This results in better precision and air management as well as longer component life. The Komatsu Diesel Particulate Filter (KDPF) has an integrated design that will not interfere with daily operation yet keeps the operator aware of its status. This smart system enables a high percentage of passive regeneration.

The WA270-7 also features Komatsu SmartLoader Logic, which provides optimal engine torque for the job required. Komatsu SmartLoader Logic helps save fuel by automatically decreasing engine torque when the loader isn’t working as hard, such as when it is driving with an empty bucket. Komatsu SmartLoader Logic functions automatically and doesn’t interfere with operation, saving fuel without decreasing production.
