Third Mammoet Taiwan office

International heavy lift and transportation provider Mammoet has strengthened its presence in Taichung, Taiwan, to better serve the growing wind market there.

Mammoet Taiwan is working with TIPC under the name Taiwan International Ports Heavy-Machinery Co. This will be the company’s third office on the island and it comes following its joint venture with Taiwanese lifting and transport company Giant Heavy Machinery Services Corp, plus work with Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC).

Mammoet says the new office will allow its team to be located closer to project sites and to offer onshore services for offshore windfarms locally. It is also located right next to a quay used for turbine pre-assembly work.

Mammoet’s ongoing work with TIPC is under the name Taiwan International Ports Heavy-Machinery Co. For this Mammoet is providing engineering, heavy lifting and transportation solutions including marshalling, ballasting, weighing, load-in and load-out transportation services, plus the use of its extensive lifting and transportation fleet, to help the government reach renewable energy targets.

Chris Schraa, managing director for Mammoet Taiwan, said, “Our strong joint venture with Giant Heavy Machinery Services Corp and the new co-operation with the Taiwan International Ports Corporation means that the time now is right for us to move closer to where we execute our projects. We have extensive experience in delivering safe and timely engineered solutions for wind power and renewables projects and aim to find the most efficient and cost-effective solution for Taiwan’s offshore wind industry.”

Mammoet Taiwan has more than 200 axle lines of SPMT and a super heavy lift PTC200 DS ring crane in its fleet and a workforce exceeding 150 employees.
