XCMG's new 60 tonne articulated dump truck, which uniquely in the industry features a diesel-electric drive.

XCMG has entered the articulated dump truck (ADT) market with the unveiling of a 60 tonne unit at Bauma China. The company also has 30 tonne and 45 tonne models in its portfolio.

The DAE60 on display at the show offers a 45 km/h top speed and a maximum gradeability of 45 degrees. Power comes from a Cummins QSK19 diesel engine driving a stepless AC drive – believed to be unique for any ADT on the market. The smaller models feature traditional six-speed transmissions.

According to XCMG, the diesel-electric drive on the DAE60 offers independent control of the six wheel motors. Anywhere between two and six motors can be engaged, depending on the operating conditions. The truck is also fitted with hydro-pneumatic suspension, while braking is handled by a hydraulic dry disc system.

Inside the ROPS/FOPS cab there is an adjustable air suspension seat and adjustable steering wheel, while and on-board computer provides information on the machine’s health via an in-cab monitor screen.
