21 May 2015

Leading equipment rental company A-Plant have kitted out a new UK services centre with a Wash Rack cleaning system manufactured by Generac Mobile Products UK.

As this recently opened building, in Hertfordshire in the south of England, did not have any washing facilities, it needed an system that was both cost effective and in line with the company’s environmental policy.

Service centre manager, Simon Damant, explained: “The Wash Rack is a self-contained, compact cleaning system easily large enough to handle our cleaning requirements. As it works with recycled water, it will help to reduce our water costs and our overall environmental impact.

“In addition, because the Wash Rack is easily sited, we have scaled back our building costs, as we dispensed with the need to construct a permanent wash bay.

“Should our circumstances change in the future we a now have the ability to move it with little or no cost or environmental impact”

The system was quickly self-installed and made ready to clean a range of small plant and tools that can be contained within the wash rack area.

Simon was acting on advice frpom A-Plant’s environmental health and safety performance standards manager, David Pudney.

Mr Pudney advises managers on the best solutions to meet with A-Plant’s current policies and procedures, as well helping to ensure these are maintained to the required high standard.

To aid the safe disposal of environmentally risky material, the Wash Rack is fitted with a series of separation tanks that securely isolate diesel, petrol, oils, grease and other chemicals, making these hazardous contaminates ready for proper disposal.

The complete unit has a 300 kg per wheel load capacity and will support plant and equipment up to 90 tonnes in weight. It can be installed above ground as a semi-permanent installation and its two-metre high walls help keep overspray to a minimum.
