Heavy haulage specialist Aardvark Hire has taken delivery of the UK’s first Renault Trucks Range C520.26 6 x 4 tractor unit running at 80 tonnes under Special Types Category 2.

The Range C has a reinforced chassis and fifth wheel as well as a Voith retarder, uprated braking and light bars and lamps supplied by Kelsa.

Complete with Aardvark’s distinctive yellow and grey livery, the Range C is an additional vehicle for the four-strong fleet, reflecting the growth in the business. This is the third Renault truck in Aardvark’s fleet and follows Renault Lander 6 x 4 and Range T tractor units.

The Range C is used to move heavy plant machinery, including large excavators and dump trucks, from main dealer groups to construction sites across the South West and throughout the UK.

Andy Lowe, Aardvark director, said “Business is booming and we needed an additional vehicle to cope with the extra demand.”

Lowe added, “We needed a seriously tough vehicle and the Range C hasn’t let us down. We are often delivering to open fields which are muddy and wet. Where other manufacturer’s vehicles would get stuck, the new Range C doesn’t and we can literally send it anywhere. The traction is incredible and the double drive pulls the vehicle effortlessly out of difficult terrain.

“We’re also seeing some pretty impressive fuel consumption figures too, returning 8 miles per gallon on general work and 5 mpg fully loaded. All in all it’s a fantastic bit of kit and the driver is over the moon too.”
