Power rental company Aggreko prepares for the presidential inauguration on 20 January.

Aggreko will supply 45 MW of power and 25 MW of heating for Barack Obama's inauguration as US president in Washington DC, making it the "principal supplier" of power/temperature control equipment for the event.

The equipment - including 35 miles of cable and 500 electrical distribution panels - will support broadcasting, security and VIP areas along the route of the parade as well as the ceremonies at Lincoln Memorial.

Rupert Soames, chief executive of Aggreko, said: "We are delighted and proud to be entrusted to provide critical power and temperature control for this historic event, which it is estimated will be attended by over two million people, and watched by hundreds of millions more on television. We have worked on the last three inaugurations and they are extremely demanding, requiring large amounts of equipment to be installed in a very short period of time."

Aggreko also provided temporary power for the Democratic election night rally in Chicago, all three Presidential debates and the Democratic and Republican Party conventions.
