BMS sells access division to Riwal Denmark
15 April 2011
Denmark's BMS A/S has sold its aerial platform rental division to Riwal Denmark and will now focus on its crane rental business.
The deal will give Riwal an additional 700 platforms - mainly Genie and JLG self propelled machines - and bring its total Danish fleet to close to 2000 machines, representing as much as a quarter of the market.
The equipment includes truck mounted platforms on 3.5 t GVW trucks, with larger trucks being kept by BMS to operate alongside its main crane rental business. Access International understands that Riwal is taking on around 15 of the 60 employees working at BMS's access division.
The deal solidifies Riwal's number one position on the Danish access market - BMS was number two and its biggest competitor.
BMS was founded as a crane company in 1953, entering the access rental business over the last twenty years. It operates mainly in Denmark, but also has a subsidiary company in Sweden, TP Kranar AB, and rents cranes in Norway as well.
