Mr Durval Gasparetti Cunha, owner of Rental Servy in Sao Paolo, has been appointed as the new president of ALEC, the Brazilian equipment rental association.

The Brazilian equipment rental association ALEC has chosen Mr Durval Gasparetti Cunha as its new president. Mr Gasparetti, who runs Rental Leasing Servy e Comércio Ltda (Rental Servy) business in Sao Paulo, will hold the post for two years. Mr Gasparetti takes over from previous president, Expedito Eloel Arena.

Mr Gasparetti has been involved with ALEC since 1995, at which time it was a division of APELMAT, a São Paulo association of contractors and earthmoving equipment owners. He remained involved when ALEC became an independent association in 1997 and subsequently served as the association's executive secretary for many years.

His activities at ALEC have focused on the safe use of rented equipment and he was instrumental in establishing ALEC's website as a portal for the rental market in Brazil. ALEC said that Mr Gasparetti aims to continue to strengthen ALEC during his tenure as president.

Mr Gasparetti's business, Rental Servy, was established in 1993, and has a wide rental fleet including power tools, gensets, concreting equipment, scaffold towers, hydraulic breakers and surface preparation equipment. It serves the greater São Paulo area.
