Erith said: “The CCS Gold award commended the benchmark performance delivered by the site’s management, which projected a positive image of the industry through a scheme sensitive to the local considerations and health, safety and environmental issues.

“In particular the awarding body recognised our able to incorporate several innovative practices to improve the scheme’s delivery. Amongst these were environmental best practices such as solar powered controlled circuit television, hybrid generators and an electric vehicle car pool.

“The complex dewatering and infilling scheme of three gasholders, located on the outskirts of the busy town centre, was surrounded by numerous sensitive interfaces. These included residential, industrial and retails units as well as a nearby railway line.”

Laura Watson, NGPH gasholder demolition manager, added: “It was a deserved outcome for what was a great project. I would like to extend a massive thanks to the whole project team.”
