Cooper Equipment buys Alberta business
26 August 2022
Cooper Equipment Rentals in Canada acquired One Stop Rentals/Sales in July for an undisclosed price. One Stop, founded in 2013, is based in Airdrie, Alberta and serves the greater Calgary area in southern Alberta.
Cooper, headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, said the deal was “a further step towards Cooper firmly establishing itself as the only Canadian-owned, nationally positioned, rental company.”
One Stop has a broad range of construction equipment and tools as well as a significant climate control fleet. It employs 25 people and serves Airdrie, Calgary, Strathmore, Cochrane, Chestermere and Olds.
The acquired business will be part of Cooper’s Southern Alberta Region led by Regional Manager, Justin Wharton.
Wharton said; “We’re delighted that Todd Maxwell, one of the shareholders of One Stop, will maintain his function as Branch Manager and play an integral role in assisting us in the transition of the acquisition over the next several months.”
Doug Dougherty, CEO of Cooper, said he was pleased to welcome One Stop into the business; “The One Stop team has built a great business with a quality reputation in the market, and we are proud to be partnering with them as we continue to grow our company across Canada.”
Todd Maxwell, President of One Stop, added; “Our team is very proud to join the Cooper Equipment Rentals family and have found the acquisition and transition to be seamless”.
Cooper was founded in 1972 and has more than 55 branches in six Canadian provinces. It has grown by acquisition in recent years. In 2020 it bought Herc’s Canadian operations and in late 2021 made two acquisitions in British Columbia and Ontario.
