Develon launches DX235RTF-7 tunnelling excavator

Develon, previously known as Doosan Construction Equipment, has introduced the DX235RTF-7 Tunnelling Excavator as a new addition to the company’s Special Application machine lineup.

The DX235RTF-7 is said to be built on the foundation of Develon’s DX235LCR-7 reduced radius crawler excavator and is driven by a DL06V Stage V engine, delivering 141 kW (189 HP) of power.

The company adds that the DX235RTF-7 features a Tunnelling Front, which includes a new arm and boom design with special kinematics as well as a tilting function.

Jan Breburda, special applications product manager for Develon Europe, commented, “The new DX235RTF-7 tunnelling machine is designed for superior performance in challenging underground environments. Complementing the safety and comfort of its operation, the advanced hydraulics and robust construction of the DX235RTF-7 ensure optimal power and durability, while its compact design allows for easy navigation in tight spaces.”

The DX235RTF-7 weighs 25,689 kg and can reach up to 9260 mm. Develon highlights that the tunnelling front kinematics prioritises horizontal reach and precision over vertical movement. The boom tilting function allows for a 45°/45° tilt in two directions, which is operated via a pedal in the operator’s cab.

The boom and arm configuration is designed for operation in narrow areas, with slightly limited movement ranges compared to the standard DX235LCR-7, says Develon.

The DX235RTF-7 is ideal for working in restricted environments without using swing movement in narrow areas, making it efficient in narrow tunnels while maintaining a low profile.

For work in confined spaces, the DX235RTF-7 features protective equipment against falling debris or contact with the tunnel ceiling and walls. It includes a level 2 FOG system, heavy duty covers, hydraulic piping protection, covers over hydraulic hoses and arm work lights, and a protective compartment for the bucket cylinder and links.

The DX235RTF-7 is designed to be easily lifted and manoeuvered into place, which can be deemed essential for tunnelling applications that require transportation to areas with limited access.
