Emerson puts new Liebherrs to work
07 March 2016
UK mobile crane rental company Emerson Crane Hire has purchased two new Liebherr LTM 1060-3.1 mobile cranes from Liebherr Great Britain.
The first unit has been delivered to Emerson, which has depots in both the east and the west of London, and the second will follow later in the year.
The 60 tonne capacity LTM 1060-3.1 has a three-axle chassis and five-section main boom giving a maximum operating height of 48 metres. The LTM 1060-3.1 has six-wheel steering and, in the UK, can travel with all 12.8 tonnes of counterweight and a double fly jib and remain within STGO - Special Types (General Order 2003) - regulations. The maximum lifting height with the double fly jib installed is increased to 63 m.
Emerson has purchased both cranes with a full specification, including VarioBase, which is particularly effective for lifting operations in locations where space is restricted. This VarioBase system, developed by Liebherr, enables each out rigger to be deployed independently to varying lengths, with the crane operation made safe by the load moment limiter within the LICCON control.
The Variable Supporting Base ensures higher lifting capacities and a larger working range, even with a maximum support base, with the largest increases made in the operating ranges directly above the supports, the company said.
