Equipment theft report

25 April 2008

The 2006 Equipment Theft Report from the British National Plant and Equipment Register (TER) notes that over 100,000 equipment theft records have been registered by owners, insurers and the police to a total value of more than UK£200 million in the UK and Northern Ireland. Around 155 telehandlers, worth UK£4 million, were stolen last year, with the Thames Valley, the London Metropolitan and West Yorkshire areas being raided most frequently. Based on its experience, the register has included a number of action points for owners, users, manufacturers, financial institutions and official bodies aimed at reducing future thefts. The report may be downloaded from the TER web site or hard copies are available on request.
