Leading demolition contractor Erith Group has fitted the biggest ever building wrap around a property as part of a large-scale project in London, United Kingdom.

Project Macallan is taking place in the capital’s Belgravia district and required a sensitive demolition strategy as several high-profile offices, embassies and the gardens of Buckingham Palace are all nearby.

In total the wrap measures more than 3,500 sq m

Erith worked with Embrace Building Wraps to come up with the solution – in total the wrap measures 3,572 sq m (38,500 sq ft).

The design includes eight extended banner frames supporting the scaffold and retention system with 2,000 couplings and fittings.

More than 800 m (2,600 ft) of elasticated bungee is used to attach and tension the wrap to the frames.

Ultimately the area will become the site of a new medical clinic.

“With every new project, we continue to work towards improving the image and reducing the impact of our industry,” said managing director David Darsey.

“Project Macallan is a complex scheme in a prominent area of London, and the installation of this wrap demonstrates our commitment to setting an even higher benchmark in environmental and community sensitivity.”
