New Holland is displaying its first fully electric mini excavator this week.

The E15X is one of the manufacturer’s new range of fifteen mini excavator models that have been designed with compact dimensions, an optimised working range and either zero tail swing or short radius for work in confined spaces.

It is on show at the France-based SITEVI exhibition for the vine, wine, fruit and olive growing sectors, and represents the first offering following the acquisition of Italian mini and midi excavators manufacturer Sampierana by New Holland parent company CNH Industrial.

Powered by a 21.5 kW lithium-ion battery, the E15X is the electric equivalent of the diesel E14D and is ideal for indoor work in the tightest of spaces, said the manufacturer. The model is able to work for a full eight-hour working day, with a one-hour fast charge.

It is well suited for a range of applications, from agriculture and horticulture to landscaping, general digging, and demolition tasks, said New Holland. “As a zero-emission vehicle with very low operating noise, it is ideal for working in areas with emissions and noise restrictions.”

The E15X’s environmental credentials are further enhanced by its use of eco-friendly biological hydraulic oil, which also extends service intervals, and by the use of cobalt-free lithium batteries.
