GAP Group events division to open in October

01 September 2014

UK rental company GAP Group has confirmed that its latest specialty division – the events division – is set to open this October.

The company told IRN that the events division would stock barrier and fencing equipment, as well as trackway and flooring, power generation and lighting, welfare services, tooling and accessories, lifting equipment, bridging and gantries, and other plant and equipment.

GAP said Aaron Cooke would lead the division, which would use the company’s existing network of over 100 depots.

A spokesperson said the company expected the UK events market to increase steadily over the next five years.

Indeed, a recent report from AMA Research forecast 23% growth in the UK event rental market over next five years, reaching value of €748 million by 2018.

The news comes after GAP Group continued its specialist expansion with a new supply agreement with surveying equipment manufacturer Topcon earlier this month.

The company said the deal would see Topcon assist GAP in the expansion of its newly established specialist divisions, offering support for GAP employees and continued technical support for its products.

Topcon lasers, levels, robotic total stations and GNSS systems would be available for hire through GAP’s new specialist Survey & Safety division.

GAP recently established two new specialist divisions – the Welfare Services division, offering portable chemical toilets for rent, and the Survey & Safety division, offering total stations, GPS technology and lasers for rent.
