UK chipper and shreader specialist GreenMech and US Compact Power Inc, manufacturer of the Boxer range of compact loaders, have agreed an alliance that will see GreenMech become dealer in the UK, France and Germany for the Boxer range of products and Compact Power import GreenMech chippers into the US.

GreenMech has taken over the distributorship from E P Barrus, the UK engine distributor that has decided to refocus on its core activities. Barrus product suppoprt manager for the Boxer range, Cliff Perks, has now joined GreenMech in a similar role.

In addition to selling the Boxer range in the UK, France and Germany, the alliance will see Compact Power import specially adapted compact chippers into the US. Mark Myrick, Compact Power's international sales manager, told IRN that the GreenMech 6 inch chippers would fit well into the US rental market, and in particular the Home Depot rental locations where Compact Power is already a supplier. Three models will be trialed in the US within the next few months before higher volumes are considered, said Mr Myrick.

Tony Turner, GreenMech's chairman, said that previously; "we didn't want to take the focus off our own products. Our products, plus Boxer's, make them more attractive to dealers."

On show on the GreenMech stand was a Boxer 532 DX carrier with a GreenMech Eco TMP chipper as an attachment. The standard GreenMech version is run from a power-take off from another vehicle, but this version is run from the hydraulics of the Boxer.

GreenMech's Cliff Perks said the chipper will work effectively with any Boxer from the 322 model and larger.
