New Ingersoll Rand breakers

Ingersoll Rand Utility Equipment has extended its range of pneumatic breakers to five models with the launch of the IR20BV breaker. It features a new handle assembly, which has also been applied to the existing breakers in the range – the IR25BV, the IR30BV and the IR40BV.

With a weight of 20.8 kg (45.7 lb) the new IR20BV breaker fills the gap between the current IR15BV and IR25BV models, according to the US company. The power output of the IR20BV is 50 J and it has an impact frequency of 1,320 bpm. It also features two shank sizes, 25 H × 108 and 28 H × 160.

It offers high output and performance, says Ingersoll Rand, with low vibration levels and low air consumption making them economical to operate.

The new handle assembly is steel and made to maintain the same levels of top fatigue resistance, but it is lighter than the previous handle body. This, it says, results in a weight reduction of about 1.3 kg (2.9 lb) per model, improving the balance of the breaker by reducing the weight at the top end of the tool.

Powered by the company's portable compressor range, Ingersoll Rand's paving breakers meet a wide range of applications in demolition, road repair and building, equipment rental, construction, building, utility and industrial markets.

The low weight of the smaller models – IR15BV, IR20BV and IR25BV – allows them to be handled and moved around easily. The high power of the larger IR30BV and IR40BV are ideal, according to the company, for working on hard materials and thicker layers of concrete and other surfaces.

Meanwhile the company has also introduced a new series of cordless tools designed specifically to provide peakpower and durability – the IQv series. These include the compact W040 ¼” Impactool, the W150 3/8” Impactool, and the W360 ½” Impactool. The IQ v series also includes drill/drivers: the 19,2 Volt D650 and 14,4 Volt D550.

“IQv technology was designed to deliver improved performance and longevity of cordless tools and batteries. All IQv series cordless tools are engineered with composite housings to deliver maximum structural strength with minimum weight,” says Christian Corrigan, global marketing manager at Ingersoll Rand Productivity Solutions. “For the customer this means cordless tools that are lighter and more powerful, and batteries that require significantly fewer replacements over the life of the tool.”
