CE June 17 Barometer

CE June 17 Barometer

The outlook for the European construction industry rose in June, and was the third highest balance figure recorded this year so far.

A balance figure of +22.1% of survey respondents said activity levels in June were higher than in May. While the figure rose substantially compared to the previous month, it was still a way off March’s +37% - a ten-year high.

The balance figure is the percentage of positive responses minus the percentage of negative responses.

Respondents continued to hold a strong outlook on the future, with a balance of +47.1% saying they expected activity to be higher in a year’s time than now. This was up on the +40.2% recorded last month.

A balance of +42.6% of survey respondents said activity levels in June were better than a year previously. This compared to a lower balance last month of +41.4%.

The CE Climate figure was also up on last month. Indeed, June’s balance was +37.3%, compared with the +31.4% seen in May.

Following a lull during the second quarter of the year, the European construction industry has returned to a healthy present and future.
