Hewden and Skanska sign £4m rental deal

25 June 2010

Hewden has signed a two-year rental deal with Skanska worth up to £4 million, including preferred supplier status nationwide for temporary site accommodation.

Andrew MacAskill, director of procurement and supply chain at Skanska, said Hewden's accreditations, including its Achilles Building Confidence award, were important in concluding the deal; "We are strongly backing green suppliers that can demonstrate stringent quality and health and safety procedures and who can share our belief that we can achieve an Injury Free Environment (IFE) on all our sites.

"As a result, we chose Hewden as one of our preferred suppliers for the provision of temporary site accommodation on a nationwide basis."

Hewden said it can supply accommodation units with features such as double-glazing, rainwater storage and additional insulation to reduce power usage.

"We have worked closely with Skanska for a number of years", said Ben Bevan, Hewden national account manager, "but this latest deal further reinforces Hewden's commitment to sustainability and the importance of health and safety accreditations. We look forward to developing our relationship with Skanska in the coming years."
