Heavy lifting equipment manufacturer Huisman will build a production facility in Brazil.

The new Huisman do Brasil facility will be alongside the river Itajai-Açu in the city of Navegantes in Santa Catarina state, in the south of Brazil. Construction equipment for the Brazilian offshore market will be made there.

The Dutch company's development will be built in phases with the first including a 15,000 square metre production facility. The second phase will see the development of a 200 metre long quayside with an artificial bay to protect vessels from the seasonal river’s high currents.

With the quayside in place, the Huisman do Brasil facility will be easily accessible for seagoing vessels, allowing for fast installation, commissioning and testing of the Huisman designed and built offshore construction equipment onboard. The new facility will be operational in the second half of 2013.

Huisman already has production facilities in the Netherlands, Czech Republic and China, as well as sales, service and engineering support offices in Brazil, Singapore and the USA.
