Husqvarna buys floor saws

15 April 2008

Husqvarna has announced the acquisition of US concrete saw producer Meco (Masterpiece Engineering Company) based in Phoenix, Arizona. The deal, the terms of which were not disclosed, should be finalised by the end of this month.

Meco produces floor saws used for cutting concrete and asphalt surfaces, primarily for road construction and repair. It has annual sales of Euro 14.5 million (US$9 million), predominantly in its home marketplace.

In a statement, Husqvarna’s head of construction products Anders Stroby said: “Meco has a strong position in the USA and Australia. Synergies will be achieved with existing operations in terms of production and distribution. In addition, Husqvarna manufacturers diamond blades that are consumed by these floor saws, which will contribute to higher sales in this product area.”
