More than 60 cranes, 400 other pieces of construction equipment and 1,500 people are working to fast track construction of a 806 million (US$949 million) exhibition centre in Stuttgart, Germany. The 31 month project, led by Projektgesellschaft Neue Messe, has been split between 180 contractors to meet the April 2007 opening date.Projektgesellschaft Neue Messe is using the top slewing tower cranes to turn the 90 ha site into an art exhibition centre with eight halls, conference centre and 4,200 space car park positioned over a motorway. The cranes on site include 22 self erecting Liebherr 71Ks and seven 63Ks.
