Awarded by the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO), the project involves building roads of 60 metres and 45 metres wide, along with a series of bridges and underpasses.

In addition to building four approach roads totalling 13.3 kilometres, Larsen & Toubro will be responsible for delivering three large steel bridges over Kalundre river and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, along with 12 minor bridges and 27 underpasses.

The project also involves the construction of utility works and allied electrical works.

Larsen & Toubro has not given a precise figure for the value of the project but has classified it as a ‘large project’, which falls into the range of ₹ Cr 2,500-5,000 (US$297.7 million - $595.5 million).

Navi Mumbai Airport is currently under construction, due for completion in 2025. Located in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai, Raigad district, Maharashtra, it will serve as Mumbai’s second airport, alongside the existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

The airport is being constructed at a cost of around ₹16,700 crore (US$2 billion) by Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited (NMIAL). NMIAL is a special-purpose vehicle in which CIDCO holds a 26% share. The remaining 74% is held by Adani Airports Holdings.
