Contractor Leighton Asia has won a deal to build the first phase of a multi-phase, $1 billion data centre development in Quezon City, Philippines.

Leighton Asia will build the STT Fairview 1 data centre in joint venture with First Balfour.

Juan Santamaria, executive chairman of CIMIC Group, which owns Leighton Asia, said, “Internationally, demand is increasing for cloud services and the vital digital infrastructure that supports them. We are pleased to be working with STT GDC Philippines and contributing our experience in delivering data centre campuses that meet stringent functional and security requirements.”

Leighton Asia managing director Brad Davey said, “Leighton Asia is excited to be part of this significant project for our valued client, building on our growing portfolio in the data centre sector, with projects across the regions where we operate.”
