German manufacturing group Liebherr has kicked off ConExpo in style, producing striking US liveries on its new all-terrain crane LTM 1120-4.1 – the most powerful four-axle crane ever to be produced – and the new 938 excavator, part of the new 8th generation machines from the company.

The original equipment manufacturer (OEM), which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in the US, has a variety of machines on display from its earthmoving, crane, concrete, drilling, components and digital technology divisions.

The company’s main stand is located at the Festival grounds – booth F5258 – and the Liebherr components stand can be found in the south hall – S84231.

The big product news from Liebherr is the 8th generation excavators, of which there are seven. The crawler excavator models range from the R 922 to R 945 and produce higher engine power, an enhanced undercarriage and increased digging and tractive forces with reduced fuel consumption.

Alongside the excavators, Liebherr’s new LTM 1120-4.1 mobile crane features a 217ft boom (66.1m), which is said to be ‘on par’ with 240-ton class cranes, and a lifting capacity of 19,800 lbs (9.9 US tons or 9 metric tonnes).

The group has also announced a strong 2019 with a turnover just shy of €11.5 billion. With 2020 in mind, Andreas Böhm, the group’s CFO, announced that the company expects a similar figure over the coming year.
